Harvest has well and truly arrived, a good two weeks earlier than 2016 thanks to the warm spring!
Our first pick was our early ripening Pinot Noir on the 12th September for our Pinot Rosé (picked on the 23rd Septmeber last year). Since then we have been busy picking our Bacchus with 11 1/2 tonnes pressed so far.
We've also been busy netting a few of our grape varieties, to keep them protected from the elements and the Gloucestershire wildlife which is plentiful at this time of year in the vineyard - they also have an excellent taste in grapes!
The warm wet weather is always challenging during harvest (and makes for a tricky picking schedule) but we are very pleased with the maturity levels of our grapes at this early stage.
Fingers crossed for the rest of the picking season!
