Multi Medal Success in WINEGB AWARDS 2020
The 2020 WineGB Awards medals were announced on Tuesday 4th August and the team at Woodchester Valley Vineyard were thrilled that all 5 wines entered into the competition were medal winners, including a GOLD for our Rosé Brut 2017, 3 x SILVER medals for our Cotswold Classic 2017 sparkling wine, Atcombe Red 2018 and Atcombe White 2019 and BRONZE for our Pinot Rose 2019.This is the first time Woodchester have entered their Sparkling wines into the WineGB competition which is the bench mark for English Wine. We are delighted to win our first Sparkling Gold Medal in the company of some of the best and most established English Sparkling Wine producers. It was also our first red wine to be entered into competition and the Atcombe Red blend of Early Pinot Noir and Regent has been a firm favourite with our customers since it’s release earlier this year.
The Judging panel, comprising Co-Chairs SUSIE BARRIE MW and OZ CLARKE MBE, and REBCCA PALMER, wine buyer of Corney and Barrow, tasted through a record number of wines and in very different circumstances to the normal tasting set up. With strict COVID-19 measures in place the three judges deliberated all 281 entries over 5 days.
